Bio:

  • IRAN:
I was born on April 7, 1981 (18th of Farvardin 1360 on Iranian Calendar) in the city of Rasht which is the capital city of province of Gilan. The province is located in northern part of Iran right along the shores of the great Caspian Sea. My mother, Alma, is originally from that city while my father, Sadreddin, hails from Tehran, the Iranian capital. My mom and dad resided in Tehran and were on vacation at the time of my birth (Farvardin is the first month of Iranian Calendar year and many Iranians go on vacation during this time. However, I am sure my mom's desire to be around her family was a major reason for the prolonged vacation). Shortly after my birth, about a month later, we moved to Tehran where we lived for the next 16 years. My brother, Sepehr, was born three years later. He is now 23, a graduate of Culinary school at George Brown Collage. He and I both attended preschool(Leily) but weren't reunited at an educational institution again for years after that. I attended public school (Shahid Khansari), junior high(Andisheyeh Noe), and grade 9 and 10 (Ghodsian) in Iran during this period.

  • Canada:
On July 1997, we packed our bags once again and moved across the ocean to Toronto, Canada, where I currently reside. Due to lack of English ability, I was forced to restart high school. I attended Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, a school which has positively affected my life, if for no other reasons than friends whom I met during my time there. Regardless of where I end up in life, you all will be there with me.
For post secondary education, I turned to York University. I majored in Information Technology and Philosophy, a strange combination, yet one that taught me how to both enhance one's life aesthetically, and examine that very life in its essence. Of course, as was the case with my high school years, I became acquainted with many new friends whose friendship I will cherish for as long as I live.

  • Hereby, I would like to thank all those people whom have helped shape my character and have helped me happily get through life up to this point. The group includes my family (mom, dad, brother, grandmother, aunts, uncles etc.), my friends (you know who you are), and my teachers, coworkers etc. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at the Iranian Students Association @ York University for giving me the chance to work with some of the brighter minds in our community.
